Search

YuChat lets you search within a workspace. All members can search, but results are limited to content they have access to.

You can search:

• Messages in chats and channels
• Member names
• Channel names
• File names
• Call transcripts, names, and meeting notes

Search Types

• Context Search

  

  
  • Context search: Searches within the current chat or channel only—messages, files, participants, call names, and meeting notes
  • Shortcut: Ctrl / ⌘ + F

  Context search only works when you have a chat or channel open. The current chat/channel name is automatically added to the search bar.

  
  
• Global Search

  

  
  • Global search: Searches across all channels and chats in the workspace
  • Shortcut: Ctrl / ⌘ + G

  Global search works from anywhere in the app.

Searching Messages

Search finds messages across all channels and chats you have access to.

Results appear immediately as you type. Press Enter for more results.

Results are sorted by relevance (how closely they match your query) and date. Similar phrases and typos may also appear in results.

Refining Your Search

1. Filter by channel or chat — Use the Channel dropdown below the results
2. Filter by sender — Use the Sender dropdown
3. Filter by date range — Use the All Time dropdown

   Date filtering also works for call recordings

4. Search by hashtag — Hashtag search requires an exact match
   info

   By default, search accounts for typos—searching for "hello" might return "helo". Exact matches appear first.

Searching People

Find colleagues by name (full or partial match).

Searching Channels

Find channels by name (full or partial match).

Searching Files

Find files by filename across all your chats.

Searching Call Recordings

Search matches against:

• Call transcripts
• Meeting notes
• Call names

Results include all recordings you have access to—both personal calls and channel calls.

Refining Call Search

1. Filter by channel or chat — Use the Channel dropdown
2. Filter by content type:
   • Transcript
   • Protocol
   • Transcription
3. Filter by date range — Use the All Time dropdown

Understanding Call Search Results

Results show where your search term was found:

• Call name — highlighted, e.g., "technical call about Android"
• Meeting notes — indicated by a ⬤ icon
• Transcript — shows timestamp, e.g.:

12:34 - in our Android app, the address book now displays

Click a transcript result to jump to that exact moment in the recording (12:34 in this example).

Quick Navigation

Quickly jump to any channel or chat:

• Ctrl + K (Windows/Linux)
• ⌘ + K (macOS)

Start typing a channel or contact name and select from the results.

Transliteration is supported—search without switching keyboard layouts. For example, "Ivan" finds "Иван".
